ah! thanks to treehugger i have found a new (to me) furniture designer after my own heart...what i wouldn't give to have a home full of these scrappy remade pieces. well, i guess technically i could make these myself, really, but that's not the point! piet hein eek specializes in furniture made of scrap materials (wood, aluminum, etc) and his website has lots of pics of his work in various settings. sooooo wonderful! they ain't cheap, but you pay for concept, right?

I am primarily a visual artist who is currently teaching sculpture at the California College of Arts in San Francisco. My clothing line is my strange attempt at creating wearable examples of turning away from mass-production and mass-consumption. Viva la revolution!

ain't that the truth? and i forgot to mention that the little metal vessels are made from recycled aluminum. :)
Sigh. I would like my entire house outfitted in that stuff. I was just saying that when I get my hands on some money I'll retain friends who are welders and electricians and get them to make me lamps and furniture out of old... industrial-type-things... that are available at all of the abandoned factories around here.
