The baby turns ONE!

HEY! I just realized that this Dec 10 my little baby called Anti-Factory will turn a whopping one year old! Well, actually, not exactly: the website launch happened a year ago--I started sewing the clothing line more like in April 2004 but dealt mostly with consignment shops. Gosh, I remember one of my first customers was a guy buying a top for his girlfriend for christmas and it was so sweet. So after a big learning curve in setting up the shop (and it's not even over, really, i have some bugs and streamlining issues to work out), I can honestly say it's been a wonderful ride and if it weren't for the support of the online crafty community, the customers, and everyone else who's written me words of encouragement I wouldn't still be here today in this capacity!

Really, I love you all. no, really :) Let's toast to living and thriving and trying to say stuff in the wider world, and finding new ways to be creative!

(wailing noises start up in the background) oops, that's the "baby" calling. must tend to it. ha ha!

congrats stephanie! i still remember the first time i found your site, and the trade we did that aquired me my first anti-factory blouse. now if i could save some cash to furnish an entire wardrobe of your work i'd be set for life. here's to independant ladies and gents making it in the handmade world.

oh and PS> I've really gotten interested in spiritual hybridities... kind of like the botanica idea we spoke of earlier, but also the way that queers have appropriated shamanism as a means to create marginal identities that heal! I just finished a piece of Latin American Santas (saints) and am currently working on a queer shamanism installation/performance :)

Congratulations and happy birthday! I was just looking at my antifactory tops and giving them some love. :) I know you've been busy - did the Swap package arrive safely? Did you already tell me and I forgot? :)

Edgar--I got the CD and it's such a great ecclectic mix of stuff! I sent you an email a while back, but if you didn't get it, i know that my email program has been acting WAY weird lately and things haven't been going through properly since I switched programs. i've been thinking of music to send you, and will do so in the next few weeks (lord, these holidays are a time crunch, aren't they?). BUT THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU--you are so thoughtful and lovely! I will also send you a little giftie along with it...i'm assuming you're not coming back to the States for the holidays? Can't wait to see what types of crazy hybrid post-post-modern art you're gonna start making after all your experiences there :D Send me images if you can!

Katherine--same goes for you--i sent an email a while back thanking you, but it looks like you've never received it--EEEEEP! People have been so nice and now they think i'm all flakey and weird. Argh! Lady, your tastes are outta this world. I totally get the sense you listen to a LOT of music and it's so great to listen in as well as partake of everyone else's mixes. Let me know if this happens again. I'll try emailing you later to thank you personally.

This is a veritable convergence of love. it makes me feel all warm and cozy inside :P

with people like all of you around, i am blessed. it's the bestest giant group hug :D

cutxpaste jenny, if it weren't for your own online "baby", i never would have learned so much about the diy community. because of you i have never had to advertise and i owe a lot to the exposure i've gotten thru your site...

jenny m, (if that's you!), hats off to you, too, for having kept your own craftiness and store growing as it has...

val, as one of my first online crafty contacts and friend, it just makes me feel great knowing you're out there.

i'm blushing now. eeep!
