totemo kawaii!!!
"totemo kawaii!", or, "so cute!" in japanese...but so really, really, weird, too!

last night i saw "My Neighbor Totoro" on TV by complete accident and it was totally amazing. i think i've been on a miyazaki kick lately (the director) as last week they were showing "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" (Kaze no tani no nauzicaa) which i actually saw in Tokyo when i was 11 years old and transported me back into a fantasy land fueled by a childhood spent growing up on the "The Dark Crystal," "The Rats of Nimh" and "Legend," all of which are a mix of dark gothiness and girlie fantasy. totally rockin'!
gotta hand it to them japanese--they sure know how to really put a spin on animist religions and weird creatures...if you haven't seen any Miyazaki films, i suggest you highttail it straight to the video store (or wherever else you get your dvds) and be in for a real treat.

Ah, Spirited Away is my favorite. I've never seen Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, but I've put it on my Netflix per your recommendation - thanks!
and i, on the other hand, have yet to see "spirited away"...so i think that's next in my queue! :D
