of My Knowledge)

I
created a diagram based on the local art scene here in the San
Francisco Bay Area--a literal "who-slept-with-who" index.
The different lengths and types of lines interconnecting the individuals
represented relative duration and extent of relationship.
Not necessarily wanting to air out too much information, the names
were represented by initials. Also, since the work is identified
as "...based on fact, rumor, or hearsay," the "truth"
behind such a diagram is called into question and could perhaps
absolve me of false charges. The resulting print is a map of my
perceived knowledge of a close circle of interpersonal relationships.
The
final prints were commissioned by the Headlands Center for the
Arts and were distributed to high-end donors as gifts during a
fundraising event. This action could also be read as perhaps giving
a kind of personal, behind-the-scenes tour of the local art scene
to those who generally only purchase it's end-products.
