Installed at House,
San Francisco
Installed
as a part of a group show in a run-down turn-of-the-century Victorian
house, this work is a parody and simulation of an artist's studio,
consisting of fabricated props resembling the creative space of
a designer/artist's desk, replete with black sketchbooks and fantasy
architectural model built from foamcore scraps. A crocheted spiderweb
adorned with glass beads wraps over the table. Spilt "milk"
runs onto the carpet, and little orange flags stake their claim
on the objects.
Referencing
still-life tableaus, this installation is composed as most coffetables
are: with a self-consciousness which is at once clinical and caricatured.
